Hi.

Welcome to Lattes, Life & Luggage! Iā€™m Christine and I share my adventures traveling and navigating this crazy thing we call life.

So, while I was in Paris, one of the things that I wanted to do most was visit Versailles because I am obsessed with Marie Antoinette. I don't know what I was expecting but it was certainly not what I got. It was much better. Royalty definitely knows how to live in style.

We waited in line for tickets about an hour and then an hour and a half just to get into the chateau. It was completely worth it though. Once we walked inside those gates, all I could think of was that one day, Marie Antoinette walked here. It was a really crazy and surreal feeling. I couldn't believe it.

We walked inside and went around the chateau for a while. We got to see so much of the chateau. We saw the entrance grounds and walked through the halls of the chateau. We also got to see the chambers of both Marie and Louis. The decor was honestly way too much for me but the size of their rooms was enormous. However, something that surprised me was their beds. They were wide but they were so short! I felt like a giant. My feet would definitely be hanging off of the bed if I were to sleep in them. They had everything they could have needed or wanted though.

We also got to see the Hall of Mirrors. Back in the day, this place must have been magical. Mirrors lined the walls with checkered floors and chandeliers hung from the ceilings all the way down the hall. I could just imagine the magical feeling you would have if there was a party here and you could see everyone dancing in their lavish gowns. The mirrors aren't as great as they used to be but I still loved just standing in that hallway.

We never made it to Marie Antoinette's estate which I'm still pretty upset about but I'm glad I was able to go at all. Versailles was really amazing and I want to go back someday and explore everything else that they have to offer. I mean, it's not going anywhere right?
